SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guard?

Well the choice is yours what you want to do. First you should know the difference , the difference is that a door supervisor can work in licencesed premesis, what is a licence premesis where alcohal is served and sold e.g clubs pubs etc. A normal security guard cannot work in licenceded premesis. So even if you do not want to work in clubs and pubs still you should go for door supervisor course and licencse, why because the training cost difference is only a fraction the licencse cost of both security guard and door supervisor are the same. But wait there is a catch a door supervisor can perform all the duties that a normal security guard can do and in addition he can also work in licencse premesis, on the contrary a security guard cant perform all the unctions that door supervisor can do. So what if tommorow you find out that you had done the security guarding course and you are required to work in a club so what you are going to pay more money for the training and again pay SIA for a different license. So what is the sensible choice ,obviously go for door supervision you save money that way.

Door Supervisor Training    BOOK COURSE                                                 

In order to obtain a SIA licence you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. This applies to front-line staff only.

To get one of the qualifications linked to door supervisor licensing, you will need to attend and take four training modules and pass three exams. The course may be delivered over 38 guided learning hours, 30 hours of which should be contact hours (as detailed below).

To get one of the qualifications linked to Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licensing you will need to attend and take two training modules and take and pass two exams. The course may be delivered over four days or during weekends and/or evening sessions. The duration of the training should be 32 hours.
